Because it’s free.
You mean the best things.
College-aged journalists — anyone who participates in the campus media, wants to explore a career in the profession, and believes in the principles of a free society.
We would love it if you did, but no. We’re interested in traditional newspaper reporters and editorialists as well as bloggers, tweeters, podcasters, and viral-video makers.
When you write an excellent news article or produce an outstanding video, we’ll introduce it to a national audience.
It’s as much or as little as you want.
We’ll communicate with you regularly, suggesting story ideas and providing tips on how to execute them. We also offer paid internships.
Yes. They’re so awesome that you’d take them for free. But we’ll still pay.
Take a look at our list of fellows. You’ll see that they’ve worked for respected news organizations and have gained valuable professional experience as writers and editors. We also connect them with distinguished mentors.
Check out our list. These are SFPA advisors who want to help students find their footing in journalism. They provide an additional level of support for our fellows, beyond what our fellows already receive from their host publications and SFPA staff.
Start by joining SFPA. Then share your best work with us. And apply for one of our top-notch internships. The application process is refreshingly simple.
SFPA is a non-profit organization run by veteran journalists for the benefit of beginning journalists. We’re dedicated to spotting talent and developing it. Also, we’re genuinely nice people.
