Fellows

The Student Free Press Association offers media fellowships on a regular basis. Our fellows have worked at The Weekly Standard, The Hill, Reason.tv, the Washington Examiner, and the Daily Caller. For more information about the fellows, including their clips, click their names below.

We also sponsor the Stefano Agostinelli Internship Program, which places student journalists at National Review.

Spring 2013

Laura Byrne

Laura Byrne is SFPA’s spring 2013 fellow at Red Alert Politics.  Laura previously interned at the Daily Caller where her work was featured on Yahoo! News and Fox Nation.  She is a proud graduate of Tulane University.

 

 

Fall 2012

Samantha Schroeder

Samantha Schroeder is SFPA’s fall 2012 fellow at the Daily Caller. She graduated from the University of Central Florida, where she wrote for Central Florida Future, the student newspaper. She interned previously at the Action Institute and has lived in California, Texas, and Florida.

Summer 2012

Julie Ershadi

Julie Ershadi was SFPA’s summer 2012 fellow at The Hill. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College. She is currently an intern at Human Events.

Emily Schrader

Emily Schrader is SFPA’s summer 2012 fellow at The Weekly Standard. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California where she was active in College Republicans and Students for Israel. She blogs at GippersChutzpah.com and has written for numerous other political websites. She will be attending IDC Herzliya for graduate school in the fall.

Stephanie Wang

Stephanie Wang is assistant editor at the Washington Free Beacon. She graduated from the University of Michigan, where she was editor-in-chief of the Michigan Review. During the summer of 2012, she was SFPA’s summer fellow at the Daily Caller.

Josh Fatzick

Josh Fatzick was SFPA’s spring 2012 fellow at The Hill. He is a student at Coastal Carolina University.

Fall 2011

Vishal Ganesan

Vishal Ganesan is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he was a writer and editor for the Desert Lamp, an independently funded blog dedicated to covering student governance, campus administration, and higher education policy. For the Fall of 2011, he was an SFPA fellow at the Daily Caller. He is originally from Austin,TX.

Summer 2011

Kyle Blaine

Kyle Blaine is an intern at ABC News. He is a junior at Vanderbilt University, where he was the news editor of The Vanderbilt Hustler during the 2010-2011 school year. During the summer of 2011, he was an SFPA fellow at Reason . He is from Punta Gorda, Fla.

Christopher Goins

Christopher Goins is a staff writer for CNSNews.com. He is a graduate of La Salle University. He helps adult learners improve their literacy on behalf of the Literacy Council of Prince George’s County, Maryland. During the summer of 2011, he was an SFPA fellow at The Hill.

Kate Havard

Kate Havard is an editorial associate at The Weekly Standard in Washington, DC. She graduated from St. John’s College in Annapolis, where she studied Liberal Arts and Political Philosophy. She wrote her thesis on Shakespeare’s Henry IV tetralogy. She is from Los Angeles, California. During the summer of 2011, she was an SFPA fellow at The Weekly Standard.

Amanda Seitz

Amanda Seitz is a reporter at the Wausau Daily Herald in Wisconsin. She graduated from Miami University in Ohio, where she studied journalism and political science. She was also the Special Reports editor for The Miami Student, the student-run paper. During the summer of 2011, she was an SFPA fellow at The Daily Caller.

Tray Smith

Tray Smith is a junior at The University of Alabama, where he serves as opinions editor of The Crimson White. During the summer of 2011, he was an SFPA fellow at the Washington Examiner. He is originally from Atmore, Alabama.

Alicia M. Cohn

Alicia M. Cohn is a staff writer for The Hill. She graduated in 2009 from Wheaton College and began working as a freelancer. During the spring of 2011, she was an SFPA fellow at The Hill.

Summer 2010

Claire Cousino

Claire Cousino is a communications specialist for Autocam in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where she served as the executive editor of the Notre Dame Rover. For the summer of 2010, she was an SFPA fellow at The Washington Times. She is from Belleville, Mich.

Peyton R. Miller

Peyton Miller is earning his law degree at Harvard University. He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard, where he edited the Harvard Salient. For the summer of 2010, he was an SFPA summer fellow at The Weekly Standard. He is originally from Knoxville, Tenn.

Kyle Peterson

Kyle Peterson is managing editor of the American Spectator. He graduated from Iowa State University in 2010. That summer, he was an SFPA fellow at the Daily Caller. After his internship, he covered the Florida election for National Review Online and then worked as a reporter with the Island Packet in Hilton Head, SC.

Andrew Stiles

Andrew Stiles is a staff reporter at the Washington Free Beacon. He graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he was associate opinion editor and an editorial board member of the Daily Tar Heel. After graduation, he spent a year teaching English in Thailand. For the summer of 2010, he was an SFPA fellow at The Hill. He was a 2010-2011 Franklin Fellow at National Review Online in Washington, D.C., reporting on Capitol Hill.
